Connect to Wi-Fi with AP mode

Browser-based setup through the device's temporary `inkVision-XXXXXX` network and local setup page.

Before You Start

Use this method when you want to connect the device directly from a phone, tablet, or computer browser.

  • You need a powered Atmos device in setup mode.
  • You need the name and password of your home Wi-Fi network.
  • You need a phone, tablet, or computer with Wi-Fi.
  • In setup mode, the device creates a temporary open Wi-Fi network named inkVision-XXXXXX.
  • The local setup page is available at http://192.168.1.1.

Step 1: Join The Device Setup Network

  1. Power on the Atmos device.
  2. Wait for the device to enter setup mode.
  3. On your phone, tablet, or computer, open the Wi-Fi settings.
  4. Join the network named inkVision-XXXXXX.
  5. If your device warns that the network has no internet access, stay connected anyway.

Step 2: Open The Setup Page

  1. Open a browser.
  2. Go to http://192.168.1.1.
  3. Wait for the Configure WiFi page to load.

If the page does not open, confirm you are still connected to the inkVision-XXXXXX network, disable mobile data or VPN temporarily if the browser keeps switching away from the local page, and refresh once after reconnecting.

Step 3: Enter Your Wi-Fi Credentials

  1. In the WiFi SSID field, enter your home Wi-Fi network name.
  2. In the WiFi Password field, enter your Wi-Fi password.
  3. Select Save WiFi.
  • The device saves the credentials.
  • The device restarts automatically.
  • The temporary inkVision-XXXXXX setup network disappears after the restart.

Step 4: Confirm The Device Joined Your Network

After the restart, reconnect your phone or computer to your normal home Wi-Fi and confirm that the device is online.

  • Check your router or DHCP client list for the new device.
  • Use a local network scanner.
  • If your network resolves local hostnames, try adding the device from Home Assistant discovery first.

Step 5: Open The Built-In Device Pages

Once the device joins your home Wi-Fi, you can open its local pages from any browser on the same network.

  1. Open http://DEVICE_IP/.
  2. Use the inkVision Device Dashboard to review device status, live sensors, brightness, screen rotation, OTA check or install actions, and restart controls.
  3. Open http://DEVICE_IP/ota if you need the dedicated firmware upload page for a local .bin file.
  4. Keep note of the device IP address because you can use the same address later in Home Assistant.

Troubleshooting

If the setup Wi-Fi network does not appear, power-cycle the device, wait about 30 seconds, and scan for Wi-Fi networks again. Move closer to the device during first setup.

If the setup page opens but saving fails, re-enter the SSID and password carefully and stay connected to the inkVision-XXXXXX network until the browser confirms the request was sent.

If the device restarts but never appears on the home network, repeat the AP-mode setup once and check the router's connected devices list for a new hostname or MAC entry.
